Holy cow Batman! Could it be true!?

By jonksbargains

Jajah is a VOIP company offering free landline calls to Australia, USA, UK and a bunch of other countries. This is a very easy to use application — it seems. I haven’t tried it yet as my computer has no microphone.

You can also call mobiles – in some countries (USA, Canada, China, Singapore, Hong Kong,Thailand) for free, in others for a rate. Calls through the site to mobiles cost $AUD0.24 per minute.

If your phone runs Java you can also use it from your mobile and instead of paying voice rates when you call landlines, pay data rates instead. I’m not sure which is more expensive, I would assume voice rates.

I actually blogged about it two months ago:

You don’t need a microphone on your computer — you just need your computer to request a call, then you will ring your landline, and connect you to your destination. You are on your regular phone through out the entire call and there is no need to sit in front of your computer.

The only restriction is that the person you want to call also need a Jajah account to make the call free. That doesn’t stop you from registering an account for them :)
